National Chambal Sanctuary - Gharial

National Chambal Sanctuary, also known as the National Chambal Gharial Life Sanctuary is a 5,400 sq. km, tri-state protected space in the northern part of the country. It is home to the critically vulnerable gharials, the red-crowned roof turtle, and the vulnerable river dolphin. It was declared a sanctuary & conserved under the life Protection Act of 1972. It is run by the Department of Forest, underneath the Project Officer with headquarters at Morena, Madhya Pradesh.
